NorthSong is the award-winning
vocal choir at NKBC and was selected to perform at McDonald's Gospelfest
2006 at Seattle's Paramount Theatre. We are a group of people who like to
sing together and support one another through fellowship and prayer. We
rehearse weekly and sing at Sunday worship services about twice a month. We
also take music ministry into the community by singing at nursing homes and
for special Christmas and Easter programs and drama productions.
NorthSong is always open to new members! You don't need to be able
to sight-read music, just have an aptitude for learning "parts" singing by
ear. We meet on Wednesday nights in the youth portable (lower portable) from
6:30 to 8:15. The AWANA program for kids is also held on Wednesday nights at
the church, so you can practice with the choir while your kids are occupied.
Childcare is also available for younger kids!
We're looking for singers in all parts! If YOU can make a commitment to
join NorthSong, please call director Jane Melin (number is in the
church directory) or the church office at 360-779-4689 or send an e-mail to
northsong @ nk-bc.org.

NOTES
for CHOIR MEMBERS |
...including calendar, song lists and more! |

Participation
Guidelines:
- PLEASE BE IN THE PRACTICE ROOM, READY TO SING, at
6:30. We’ll start with a brief vocal warmup;
if you are running late, please warm up your voice on the way in. We’ll
end promptly at 8:15 for those needing to pick children up from AWANA.
- The committed participation of ALL members is crucial to the success
of the choir. When you do not attend a rehearsal, you miss out on
learning your part and the group may have to wait for you to get caught
up. Please notify the director if you must be absent, or if you cannot
sing with the choir on a scheduled Sunday.
- Three or more absences in a row without prior notification or
explanation, or a regular pattern of absences, will mean you have put
yourself on "leave" and someone else may start to use your music. Funds
for purchasing music are limited so we cannot stock music for people who
do not regularly attend practices.
- Please care for and return your sheet music/songbooks in good
condition. You may make light pencil marks in your music for rehearsal
purposes. If you lose your music, please contribute $1.25 per octavo and
$8.00 per book to purchase a replacement.
- The songs we will prepare will be a blend of different musical
styles, generally leaning towards the style of music used in Sunday
services. Please talk to the director if you have suggestions for music
to sing.
- Important urgent communications will be sent out by e-mail AND
posted on this page. Please give the director your e-mail address; or,
let her know if you do not have e-mail and you will be contacted by
phone.
Choir Attire!
What to wear for "outside" singing engagements:
We have set up a relationship with an embroidery provider to make sure
everyone is outfitted with a NorthSong shirt to be worn at all Outreach
Events (unless alternate attire is planned, see below).
Browse selected styles here. When ordering, please choose only selected
colors and styles. Shirts to be worn with dark slacks (best with tan
shirts), khakis (best with blue shirts) or neat jeans (either).
Each singer should also add a black top (preferably long-sleeved), black
slacks AND black shoes to their wardrobe. This provides a good "generic"
outfit that can be worn at different seasons and accessorized by scarves or
ties for special events. |
